Russian Heritage Week, part of the National Trust’s Australian Heritage Festival, celebrates Russian heritage and culture in Australia.
Did you know that Brisbane’s cafe culture was pioneered by a Russian immigrant, or that Australia’s most famous dessert was named after Russian ballerina who performed in Perth? Russian immigrants and Russian culture have left a colourful trail across Australia for over 100 years. During Russian Heritage Week you are invited to follow this trail and explore the many wonderful ways Russians and Russian culture have become a part of Australian society.
Now in it’s second year, Russian Heritage Week is about uncovering Russian history, heritage and culture in your family, city and community. Learn about and celebrate the rich contribution of Russian immigration to Australia’s multicultural society.
Most events are free and everyone is welcome.
